TTControl makes agricultural machinery ready for highly automated operation

There is a rising demand to increase the overall safety, efficiency and productivity of agricultural machinery. To meet this demand, high safety standards must be incorporated, and in-vehicle architectures need to be redeveloped. To assist and guide the operator, it is necessary to ensure safe and reliable assistance functions. In order to perform these functions, a rising number of data from sensors and cameras needs to be handled. Thus, higher hardware and software performance are required. These high-performance computing platforms must enable machine vision, deep learning and neural networks to allow automated or even autonomous functionality. Highly automated functionality enables a step forward in productivity and efficiency.

GPS-guided and nearly autonomous tractors are more precise and allow fuel savings of up to 30%. With smart sensors and intelligent cameras, farmers can receive all information about the plants, manage the fields properly and spray and fertilize precisely wherever and whenever it is needed. Precise spraying functionalities can save costs for fertilizers or herbicides of up to 90%. Real-time image processing can lead to a multitude of optimized machinery applications. Vision-based inspections allow the sorting and weighing of the yield to optimize the quality of the output. Only a high-performance computing platform can ensure the computational capacity needed for smart vehicle functionality.

TTControl will be showcasing a prototype of such a high-performance computing platform for use in off-highway applications. It is equipped with a powerful performance host for the execution of computationally demanding algorithms (e.g. machine vision, image processing, neural networks, etc.) and with a reliable safety host to fulfil the requirements in safety-relevant construction, agricultural, automotive, material handling and transportation applications. The platform is envisioned as part of a complete and compatible product family all protected by compact, automotive-style housings suited to mobile applications in harsh environments.

TTControl goes agrirouter

TTControl’s IoT solution TTConnect Cloud Service allows the integration of the agrirouter API that ensures easy exchange of data between different providers. Bringing together machines, implements and agricultural software applications (e.g. farm management information systems) to talk to each other can be a real hurdle. Now the exchange of data has been eased, and agriculture production processes and administrative overhead can be simplified and optimized. As a result, customers will benefit from higher productivity and efficiency, as all needed data can be accessed from one single point. For further information, please check out the agrirouter website.

High-end ECU for agricultural applications launched at Agritechnica

At Agritechnica in Hanover, TTControl officially introduces a new member of the HY-TTC 500 ECU family: the HY-TTC 508 safety-certified ECU. The HY-TTC 508 features a Real-Time Clock and 16 MB external flash memory for ISOBUS-compliant systems, while the installed 100BASE-T1 BroadR-Reach® interface allows high data throughput between different electronic devices. The HY-TTC 508 is currently undergoing EN ISO 25119 AgPL d safety certification and one of its three CAN interfaces is ISOBUS-compliant. Therefore, it is an ideal component for modern agricultural in-vehicle architectures.
